Christmas 2009 & Happy New Year's Eve!

At Grandma & Papa's house in Strawberry

Christmas Eve Day-Yay, snow!!! Even though it's just a little.

Blowing out the candle on Jesus' birthday cake Christmas morning. Yummy breakfast.

One of their favorite toys this year. Joshua spent his own $9 on the chipmunk for Hannah. Awwww. Hannah bought him a Star Wars car when we were at Disneyland.

With Grandma & Papa.

Me & Hannah

Daddy & Joshua

We went up to my Mom & Dad's house in Strawberry for Christmas. We got up there on Christmas Eve day & left the day after Christmas. There was very little snow left but just enough for some sledding on an incline-not really a hill or slope. But that made the kids happy enough. We had birthday cake for breakfast on Christmas. The kids got lots of Wii games, puzzles,& board games. They learned how to play Yahtzee, played Disney Wheel of Fortune, & some Disney Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. I enjoyed really being able to taste Christmas dinner after being sick on Thanksgiving.

On Saturday we all went to my sister's house for a 2nd Christmas celebration & then home.

We had a couple school days this week & went to the Science Center yesterday because our pass expires this month. No school today or tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a very safe & happy New Year's Eve. I hope everyone who stops by my blog to bother reading what we're up to has a truly blessed 2010:o)

Theater & Football

We saw Winnie the Pooh-A Christmas Tale on Tuesday with my Mom at the Valley Youth Theater. It was a cute play & the kids enjoyed it.

Wednesday was the kids' first football game. I couldn't get really good shots of Hannah playing. The ones I did take it's hard to tell where she is but she did catch the ball 2 times. The picture above is the best I could get of Joshua running with the ball. He's on the right in green. He won his game. Hannah had 2 games because there's only 3 teams in her division. She won one & lost one. I think Joshua got more of a workout after his game while running around playing with the other kids. They were doing a little bit of tackle football! They both had fun but now we're on Christmas break so they don't play again till next year. And, for some of you NOT in Arizona:yes, it is warm enough to wear shorts the week before Christmas as you'll notice in that picture. I was pretty warm just watching them play so I can imagine the kids were hot. I swear I did not post the picture to make you jealous:) I'd like a little more cold!

Todd took the kids caroling at church tonight while I worked. Hannah had been looking forward to it. I was not. The thought of my singing where there's not a lot of other people to drown me out was a little scary. I felt like I might not be bringing joy to unsuspecting homeowners. God saved me the embarrassment by me being called to cover a shift at work. I really needed an extra shift anyway because of the way the Christmas & New Year holidays fall this year. Fridays off equals smaller paycheck. Todd said one person shut the door on them & another wouldn't answer the door after turning out the porch light & shutting the window. Very sad.

That's it for now till Christmas!!

December Happenings

About a week ago we had a really bad storm. Rain, very high winds, & power outages. This is what Todd woke up to when he tried to leave for work. We were pretty disappointed it wasn't the tree we wanted gone! It couldn't be saved. We lost power from about 10pm-5am but the house must be insulated really good & held in the heat from the whole day in because it didn't get terribly cold all night.

At a Christmas party at the base one Friday while I worked.

Not too much exciting since Thanksgiving. The tree disaster was the most news. The kids ate tons of goodies at our homeschool Christmas party yesterday. Today we saw the Winnie the Pooh Christmas Tale at the Valley Youth Theater. It was cute & my Mom got to go. Hannah got to see what it was like being on the other side of the stage this time. I'll post those pictures after I get them off the camera. The kids have their first football game tomorrow. Since there's 3 teams in Hannah's division she'll have a double-header tomorrow. There's only 2 teams in Joshua's division so even if his team loses every game they still get silver. But he really wants that gold! That's it for now.

December birthdays

Thanksgiving Day-My Mom & Dad with the kids & their cousins.

Happy Birthday to our December birthday people (even though they will probably never see these wishes).

Jim-my brother
Brendan-our nephew

Not much exciting has been going on since Todd's parents came to visit. Just getting school done, being sick, working, & getting ready for Jesus' birthday. Thanksgiving would have been better if I could have tasted the wonderful food. I'm almost done taking the medicine for the sinus infection. Everything is pretty much decorated except for outside stuff but that's not my department. Some lights are up but Mary, Joseph, & baby Jesus are still in the garage.

Todd went to the army base in Yuma this week for an overnight stay. He went to help their base look good for Christmas. He gets a ridiculous amount of food money for these things so the extra goes into our Disneyland fund:)

The kids should start football next Wednesday. We have a field trip to the Valley Youth Theater to see a Winnie the Pooh Christmas play which my mom will get to come to. This is the same theater Hannah had her first class at earlier this year. I'm hoping we can stay healthy enough to go caroling with our Bible study group later this month. Actually, Hannah really wants to do it but I'm not so keen on having people hear ME sing! We are really looking forward to finally going to Strawberry for Christmas this year. Our work schedules finally work out with a Friday Christmas. Here's hoping there's just the right amount of snow this year. We haven;t figured out if we'll stay 1 or 2 nights yet. The kids are voting for 2 (or more!).
