Junior Bible Quiz January Meet

After a long day of quizzing.

Just before their last match.

Daddy & his little girl.

God's Girlz won 5 out of 6 rounds again this weekend! Yay! That makes 10/12 so far. They have another match in February and March. April will be State. Regionals (thankfully) got moved to May. Hopefully we'll be going to Orlando in June for Nationals. God will need to provide a miracle in the way of funds but I believe He will make this happen for this REALLY great group of girls.

Hannah started theater on Friday and is anxiously awaiting the cast list to see what part she got. She has one friend from JBQ who is doing theater with her for the 1st time. So now there are 3 JBQ girls also performing in Honk Jr! this spring. I think things might slow down around here in July!

Christmas Day Snow

I can't tell from Joshua's expression if he's having as much fun as Hannah or not. It doesn't really look like it!

Here's some snow fun pictures from Christmas day. It's on that slope I mentioned in an earlier post. As you can see, the kids still had fun. Hopefully there will be a nice snow day coming up in the next couple months when everyone else is stuck at work/school and we can have Crowley Pit to ourselves just like we like it:)

We celebrated Christmas 2011 on Christmas Eve day this year. My parents & my sister and her kids came over. The surprise guest was my brother whom I have not seen in 12 years. Actually, the last time he was here I was 11 days away from having Hannah. We had a yummy dinner & opened some gifts. the kids wanted to still open some on Christmas so they saved some for the next day.

On Christmas we drove up north to try to play in the snow near Flagstaff. Many other people had that same idea so we headed to my parents' house. We decided we'd do our normal snow day when kids go back to school. We did stop by the boat dock of a frozen over lake and did a little sledding on a slope (not really a hill). It was enough to make the kids happy. Pictures of that next.

More God's Girlz

Here's a couple pictures from our hosting of what we dubbed "JBQ Fun Day"-held at various homes of the girls every month. We hosted December. I made a cake, the girls played improv games, & played at the park. It's basically a time for the girls to get together for fun with no quizzing. They have some free time to play before quizzing on Fridays but these "fun days" are strictly for fun. Last month they made some cute cake pops. In October they got together on Halloween for a movie & junk food night. It was a pleasure to have these girls over. They are a great team!

Joshua's 8 year picture-Again (re-take)

Well, you all know how this boy hates getting his picture taken. So this year I took his picture and figured that would have to suffice. Now you all will be getting a replacement picture because I like this one better. This is his yearbook picture that a mom from our homeschool group took. We had the option to buy pictures so I bought the download so I could print what I wanted at Sam's Club. Hannah's 12 year old picture is done too. Some of you already got it and some are waiting to be mailed. Hannah missed "picture day" for the yearbook because she was still exhausted from her play performances that she didn't go to PE that day. So her yearbook picture will have to be one I send in.

I'm hoping to get Thanksgiving pictures up soon.

Fools Play

Welcome to this small "cursed" village in the Ukraine.

Hannah with her 2 buddies-McKenna (who was in a different cast) & Chloe.

With Grandma & Papa.

Yenchna, the vendor.

Our beautiful actress.

Hannah's performances in Fools is over and the post production sadness will soon set in for her. She was GREAT! The whole cast did great. It was a comedy about a small village in Russia cursed with stupidity. Hannah was a vendor named Yenchna. There was laughter every minute and I'm thankful for the audience members who decided to spend their entertainment money on supporting these kids in their passion for theater. I don't think I've seen an overpriced big blockbuster movie that made me laugh as much. Good family fun entertainment. She performed Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Then she & I stayed for the other cast's performance that evening. She had so much fun. Thanks to my parents and some church & homeschool families who took the time to support our future star:) It meant so much to her to have you there.

Yesterday started off with Joshua's last flag football game at 8 am. They lost. They only won 2 games but I think the team had fun. The final tournament is next weekend. It falls the same day as Hannah's 1st Junior Bible Quiz match. If you think of it, I would appreciate prayers for that upcoming match. I want the girls to do their best & have fun and try not to be nervous. Prayers for all the girls to stay healthy would be good too.

Hannah's 12th Theater/Improv Theme Birthday Party

I don't know how to make the picture go the right way but hopefully you get the idea of a "ticket" for the theme with some star cupcakes. Her birth date is on the ticket too if you look closely.

With Grandam & Papa

Hannah had her theater/improv themed birthday party this past weekend. She and her friends (and sometimes an adult) played improv games. Some of the games were really funny. I even made a "walk of fame" up the walk to the front door with all the kids' names inside a chalk star. She had fun so I guess it was a success.

State Fair 2011

2nd place peanut clusters.

1st place corn on the cob cake.
1st place gumball machine cake.

They had LOTS of 1st place ribbons so they think they're #1.
Another 1st place......

And the recycled art wreath is another......

In the butterfly pavilion.

We went to the state fair last week and had the usual fun. We checked out art, food, animals, and rode a few rides before leaving for a late lunch. The kids entered a lot of artwork and got so many 1st place ribbons I lost track. I'll take a picture of them all when we pick up artwork in a couple weeks. Their cakes got 1st lace and Hannah's candies took 1st & 2nd. They were super excited and now have to try to live up to this next year.
