October Birthdays

Since I was late in posting September birthdays I thought I'd be a little early for the October ones. Makes it even I guess!

Sea World trip #2

Here's the Sea World pictures. Only about 20 since we just went in February. I didn't need to take as many.

The first thing we did was to feed the dolphins like we did in February but I was very angry to find out about some changes they made. Last time I went in with my Mom and the kids to take pictures. Now if you want to go in to take pictures they charge you $6. It's $6 for 3 little fish and I was only willing to fork over $12 for both kids to do it but not another $6 just to take pictures. So then Joshua decides he won't do it if I'm not there and Hannah had to go in alone (pay and then wonder where we are-which is why she has that unhappy look on her face). I had to hope she was led to a trainer that wasn't blocking my frame and use my zoom. Not how I wanted to start our day. They are basically assuming no good parent would send their kid in alone and can make some extra money there. I would think they would want the kids to be properly supervised.

We did get to see the new dolphin show called Blue Horizons which Hannah (and us) enjoyed. We saw the Shamu show again but it was not as cool as when the trainers did tricks with Shamu. I understand why they don't anymore but Todd thought it was boring.

Sea World was open till 7 but we left by 5pm-ish so we could eat an affordable dinner!

September Birthdays-Better late than never!

So, I'll admit to slacking a bit on the birthday thing. I try to do it at the beginning of the month but I was preoccupied with the vacation. Thankfully the 2 birthdays have not passed yet so I think I'm okay.

My BFF-Jen in Massachusetts. What can I say? You are someone I aspire to be like and I wish you were here to help me be a better person. I hope that when we get to Heaven we live next to each other to make up for all these years apart:)

We're home

We got back from California on Sunday night. We had a fun time-of course. It'll take me awhile to put up a slide show. We went to Corona Del Mar the first day after we got to Anaheim. Hannah & Todd went boogie boarding and Joshua tried it once. It was all fun till Hannah found out she lost a Mickey earring:( Later we found a cute pair at the World of Disney Store where she got an early birthday present.
We went back to the motel and prepared for our first day at Disneyland on Monday. We were happy to be going Mon-Thurs and avoid weekends. It was much lighter crowds than last year. We used our free volunteer day on Monday and got hopper passes for the next 3 days.
Friday morning we drove to San Diego/Coronado Island. We went to Sea World one more time before our passes expired. We had to leave Sunday but made one last beach visit to La Jolla. Todd did a little snorkeling and we searched tide pools. We saw lots of hermit crabs and some anemone. We saw about 5 seals sunning themselves and swimming too.
Joshua stumps me sometimes. I told him I wasn't going in the water because it was too cold & I'm a wimp. He said he was a wimp too. I said, "you're too young to be a wimp". His answer: How old do you have to be to be a wimp? Classic Joshua!
I'm finally caught up on laundry but we still have some last minute art projects to get done for the State Fair in October. Todd will finish the management classes on Thursday. We're hoping for some good things to come from it soon!

ASU Game

We just got back about an hour ago from a Sun Devils football game against NAU. Todd got free tickets at work. They were normally $40 seats. We left after the 3rd quarter since we need to be up early. It wasn't a pretty win but it was a win. These pictures were taken before the game started. It was fun but I wish we didn't have to wake up early and that parking wasn't $20! I guess it's not bad since the tickets were free:o)

Finally!!! So here's the good ones. The session started off pretty bad & I have those pictures to use as blackmail later in life. Thanks to Amanda for being so patient!!

Mundane Stuff

I have no pictures as we have not done anything. I haven't had anything interesting to blog about. Hannah got a part in the Snoopy play in the chorus. I think she's okay with that-well, she's got to be! I got sick yesterday. Better now than in 18 days. I'm just praying no one else gets it. I'm hoping it's just allergies. The bright side is it's only the 2nd time I've been sick this year. Last year I was sick about 8 times. The most excitement I've had this week is finding a Blackhawks jersey at Savers for $6 for Hannah. Joshua can grow into it.

2 Teeth Gone

Joshua finally lost his two top front teeth. Thanks to a well placed hit to the mouth by Hannah they both literally fell out of his mouth. I was running errands on Sunday while Todd took them in the pool. Not sure exactly how the "accident" happened but Hannah had to retrieve both teeth from the bottom of the pool. We had been dealing with these crooked loose teeth for awhile & I am so glad they are gone. He refused to wiggle them & would be super careful how he ate & drank. I say they looked like those fake hillbilly teeth you can get as a prize at Peter Piper Pizza or from a machine. They also reminded me of Nanny McPhee. Todd checked them every night & he'd cry. The drama is now over. Phew! Now I absolutely love this toothless grin.

Not much new here. Hannah starts theater class tomorrow.

Hannah's haircut

Hannah's hair has been growing out since last June when she went short for the first time & let her bangs grow out. She wanted it short again-shoulder length. She likes the cut but probably wants to go above the shoulder next time instead of below.

I wanted to post Joshua's 7th year pictures but neither the Mac or the laptop worked with the disc. I'll have to have Todd help me which could take some time. I did post them on Facebook so you can see them there or just wait. Sorry.

We're still getting school done. Hannah is officially in 5th grade & Joshua in 2nd. Joshua still cracks me up sometimes with his schoolwork. This time it was a quiz he took where he had to list the opposite of 2 words. Happy was the 1st word to which he wrote "unhappy". I know they were really looking for "sad" but I let him have it even though he was just adding a prefix. It was technically right.Next word was sweet. In my world, the opposite of sweet is sour. BUT, in Joshua's world the opposite of sweet is "bossy". Can you tell he has an older sister?

We have a couple more movies left to see on Thursdays. Hannah went to the VBS at our church a couple weeks ago and loved it. Hannah wants to get her hair cut short again. She has an appointment on Tuesday afternoon. She says she wants it to her shoulders again. We'll see what the stylist can do with her hair now that her bangs are much longer.

That's about the extent of our excitement.

4th of July

The 4th of July was our 13th wedding anniversary. I can't believe 13 happy years have flown by.

First, we went to the pool at the AFB for their "family fun free day". We were there from 11am-2pm. We didn't win any prizes but did participate in a coin drop game and we earned $6.50 in quarters between all four of us. They dropped quarters into the pool and you had to retrieve them. It was split up by age groups. The adults had to find them in the deep end-up to 12 feet deep. You couldn't jump/dive in so it was a little difficult to swim down 12 feet. Hannah put her money in her theater fund. I donated my money to her cause too.

After that we headed over to the Simpson's house for more swimming & BBQ. The kids swam almost the whole time we were there. We left around 7:30 pm to head back to the base for fireworks.

The base was busier this year than last year but we still got a parking space and waited about 40 minutes for the fireworks to start. We got a few freebies from some vendors. After that we headed home. Joshua fell asleep on the short trip home. They were exhausted!

Todd started to feel sick that evening & he's been sick all week. It was a sinus infection. He's got medicine now so he's on the mend.

Here's some pictures of Hannah's theater performance last night as the White Knight. Not many smiley pictures as being a knight is very serious business. They could use some more boys interested in theater but I'm pretty sure she still had fun playing a boy role. There were only 2 boy knights. Also, the pictures are out of order. I'll never learn to put them in order. I figure you can deal with it:)
