Stardust opening night

Hannah's spring musical, Stardust, opened last night to a large crowd. They got a standing ovation on opening night. Most of the crowd will never know how hard these kids worked as 3 separate casts came together at the beginning of the week (after practicing apart for several months) and pulled off a fabulous performance. They were not even able to get an entire run through done all week.
The show was full of laughs, tough choreography, & 1920's music. Hannah played Ma Fletcher from the country whose son wants to go to the big city to make it as an actor. Not many people get to hear her sing but trust me when I say she has a beautiful voice. Other people said so too so it's not just my biased opinion:)
There's two more shows so more pictures will come. Hannah already changed by this last pic. I'll force a family shot tonight as Todd didn't go last night which is why he's missing from these pictures.

Compass Kidz take 6th place at State 2015

Last weekend was State competition for Compass Kidz in Tucson. There were 8 teams competing so 6th place may seem low, there was actaully a very tight race for 3rd-6th place. By the last match it was very possible they could have taken 3rd. One of Joshua's team mates was in 2nd place for high individual points so they were right there in the running. They won 3 & lost 4. I think they are all happy with the trophy & maybe were more happy for the ice cream social!
Sadly for Joshua, this was his last year as he turns 12 next month. If he wants to continue in quizzing, he'll have to move up to Teen Bible Quiz. They have leagues that ease you into it. He doesn't want to compete at Hannah's level!

God's Girlz State 2015

 Before quizzing started

 Me & the scorekeeper.
The Quoting Bee (starting line up)
The Quoting Bee (final 3-big surprise, right?)
God's Girlz with their various team & individual awards.

There was a tie (again) for first place for the Quoting Bee between Hannah and a teammate.
Hannah's gold award for quoting each chapter of Romans & James to her coach with 4 mistakes or less per chapter. She also earned the platinum award (certificate to come later) which was a huge accomplishment. It came with lots of hard work & tears but she did it! The platinum award means she quoted ALL Of Romans & James in one sitting to her coach with 7 mistakes or less and in under 50 minutes. She did it 3 times with me and bunches of failures with me too. She had some failures with her coach too & was ready to quit trying. On her last try, she did it! She had tried for the platinum award last year too but didn't get it. Such an amazing feat. Plus both her teammates did it too (after some failed attempts as well).
Her medals for high individual points. One is for the regular season (5th place) & the other is for State (3rd place).

God's Girlz competed at State competition March 28th. They went undefeated!! They were 8 and 0 on the day. They were awarded plaques for 1st place at State and 1st place over the regular season. Their regular season record was 21 & 4. Each girl was in the top 10 in individual points. The girls each competed in the one-on-one "for fun" competitions too. One teammate got 2nd place in the one-on-one competition. Hannah and a teammate tied for 1st in the Quoting Bee because they could have gone on for hours so they just called it a 1st place tie.

Regionals was supposed to be in Colordao but there isn't a TBQ team in CO to compete with so it got moved to southern CA since there was a CA team and 3 AZ teams. This is saving us a lot of time & money. We've even already booked our Nationals hotel in downtown Phoenix in Jun/July.

But before we even make it to Regionals, we have this other small item coming up-Hannah's spring musical performance in Stardust! Her tech week starts next week so I'll have pictures of that next.

St. Patrick's Day & JBQ Meet #4

 Wearing o' the green.....

Compass Kidz last meet of the regular season.
The team with a couple siblings in the mix (above) and the team (below).
I have a couple St. Patrick's Day pictures-Joshua trying to wear a lot of green to the homeschool group party & the kids wearing Blackhawk green.

Compass Kidz competed in their last regular season meet in March. They won 4 & lost 4. They compete at State on Saturday and that will be their last time together as this group of boys:( They won't make it to Regionals or Nationals and Joshua ages out. A sibling of our 20 pointer will be replacing Joshua on the 30 point questions for next season. Joshua & Hannah still want to stay involved with JBQ by officiating so we'll see how that works out. I don't want to commit to getting them there when I don't have to! Hannah is an excellent scorekeeper though:)
