The team with their Matthew books (below)
Most of you know the girls are always given a chance for a silly shot in exchange for the nice ones.
(Above) 3 of 4 God's Girlz at the One-on-One competition.
The #1 & #2 top individual scorers for the regular season AND for State.
(above) 3 girls got a silver trophy for reciting all 11 chapters they have learned to their coach. That would be Matthew 1-8 and 26-28.
God's Girlz and their coach with their medals, trophies, & plaques. One plaque is for coming in 1st over the regular season & the other is for coming in 1st at State.
Family minus sick hubby:(
Another silly shot.
Me & Hannah
God's Girlz competed at State yesterday. They had an amazing day! Where do I even start?
They had 9 rounds of quizzing and went undefeated! Yep, they won all 9. If you remember, they had a record of 28/3 over the regular season. Pretty cool but it doesn't end there.
Hannah came in 2nd for individual high points over the regular season and at State. Her team mate came in 1st.
There were 2 extra "just for fun" contests that were not about the team. You competed individually. Oh, and you also competed against the high schoolers as well as the middle school kids.
One was called a Quoting Bee (like a spelling bee). The kids all lined up and had to quote a verse given to them by chapter & verse. If they got it wrong, they were out. All the girls were next to each other and the man giving them verses started with their end. Hannah was 1st. Yikes! But she nailed it and went to the end of the line to wait her next turn. Each of the other 3 team mates got theirs right too. Phew! The next verse the next kid didn't know. Neither did the next one. Or the next one. Right on down the line till they reached Hannah again. She got it and all those approximately 25 kids were out. Wow! The last 4 standing were ALL God's Girlz. Eventually it was the last two and Hannah came in 2nd to her very good friend. Too cool! She'll be getting a trophy for that in the mail.
There was another contest called a One-on-One which worked just like the quizzing matches but with only 10 questions and you quizzed against everyone at the table. No teams here. There were 3 rounds of this. They took the top 4 quizzers from the 1st round to move on to the 2nd round. Hannah came in 1st and moved up to the 2nd round. Her team mates were in a different room quizzing but we soon found out that 2 more God's Girlz were moving up. One even quizzed out in her room which means she answered 5 questions correctly out of 10.
Hannah was separated from her team mates again in round 2. In round 2 they only took the top 2 scorers to move on to the 3rd and final round. Hannah was one of the top 2 and moved on. When we got to the room for the big show down, we were happy to see her two team mates ALSO made it to the final. That means that 3 of the 4 kids were God's Girlz! Hannah came in 2nd in that competition too and that trophy will be mailed later too.
There was an ice cream social before the awards were given out. Altogether Hannah earned 2 plaques with her team-1 for the team coming in 1st over the regular season & 1 for coming in 1st at State. Individually she earned 2 medals for being the #2 scorer over the regular season AND #2 at State. She earned trophies for the #2 spots at Quoting Bee AND One-on-One contests. Lastly, she earned a silver trophy for quoting all 11 chapters to her coach with less than 4 mistakes per chapter. Another thing she had to do for the silver trophy was to recite 1 chapter in front of her congregation. She did that this morning. She and a team mate did it together at our church. Her friend recited chapter 4 and Hannah recited chapter 28 at the request of our Pastor. They did great.
On one of the pictures I mentioned that Todd was sick and couldn't make it. This was very sad but he felt terrible and quite frankly, no one would want a sickie there. He's still not all the way better but he did have an entire day to do nothing with us all gone. We left at 7:30 am and didn't get home till 7:30pm. We got out of TBQ around 4:45 but I took the kids and a few friends to Peter Piper Pizza before coming home.
It was an exhausting day for me but even more for Hannah. After church today we got some lunch and then went door-to-door to try and sell Sonic coupon cards. So it was a long weekend but so worth it to see the girls do SOOOO well. We'll be going to southern California in early May for Regionals. Yay!
